July 20, 1952 – Iranian people’s uprising in support of Dr. Massadeq
On July 21, 1952, the people of Tehran rose in support of the leader of anti-colonialism struggle movement of the Iranian nation, Dr. Mossadeq. They succeeded to compel Shah to accept Dr. Mosaddeq’s demands, and impelled Shah’s puppet Prime Minister, Qavamossaltaneh to escape. The uprising occurred at a time when Shah sought to strengthen the pillars of his despotic rule by suppressing the national movement of the people of Iran led by Dr. Mossadeq by his tanks and armed mercenaries, but he was faced with the waves of angry people who shouted 'either death or Mossadeq ' Ultimately, after killing dozens of demonstrators and injuring hundreds of people, Shah was forced to retreat and surrender vis-à-vis the people’s demand and to accept the conditions for premiership of Dr. Mossadeq.
